COMING SOON!!!

Salt 'n Silver is my first collaborative project on Unreal Engine 5. While I have worked with the engine in my level design class and for my portfolio piece, this was my first true full-length game that I worked on, with a team consisting of 12 members (4 programmers, 4 artists, 4 designers).

The story of the game centers around a sea bun merchant who is out exploring, until one day he accidentally lands between an ongoing crisis between a local village and a ruthless gang led by Kingfin. The gameplay consists of buying and selling weapons and other valuables, collecting materials from defeating enemies, and crafting new weapons and trinkets to aid you on your journey.

The majority of my work leaned heavily on the game's NPCs and level scripting. I was tasked to develop a dialogue system for designers to use that allowed them to create branching data tables for NPCs to display dialogue, choices that reflected what the NPCs said, and integrating adding quests for the NPCs to assign to the player.

The following screenshots are some of the work I've done in blueprinting that handle the dialogue system. As production went on, the system grew more and more advanced, from standard dialogue that sometimes contained choices to dialogue that has a typewriter effect for the text to generate, certain rows of dialogue that contain items that can either be rewarded to the player or traded with for other items, sound effects that play on each row that allow recorded voice lines, and quests that are assigned to the player after interacting with the NPC on specific rows.

Alongside creating the dialogue system, I also assisted the designers with creating NPCs to be placed into the level, each with their own unique data table to display different dialogues. I also helped with creating quests that are attached to NPCs that can then reward the player after completing the quests.
