SteamPong Prototype
This was a personal project I began working on over winter break, and I decided I wanted to use it for my portfolio piece.
This prototype was created mainly to demonstrate the core mechanics I had for an original game idea I have a desire of making post-graduation. The concept is you play as a steampunk-style robot with two paddles connected to your torso that rotate 360 degrees. Enemies will shoot projectiles and you you must use your paddles to deflect and deal damage. Each deflection adds a charge to your paddle, and when your paddle has 5 charges, you can use a heal ability to repair damage taken, but if both paddles are charged you can perform a super spin, which is a brief invincibility period and causes your paddles to spin super fast.
The mechanics were made entirely using Blueprints in UE5. I did also have some additional help with UI from Rebecca Catterton and Sound Design from Anthony Rodriguez to enhance the player experience.
